|Description:||The Downtown YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic Director of Early Childhood Education to provide leadership and guidance to our Early Learning Center.|

|Duties:||The Director will oversee the Head Start and preschool programs at our Early Learning Center during the school year and summer. The Director will supervise three full-time teachers and several part-time staff members, build relationships with children and parents, have responsibility for administrative functions of the Early Learning Center, and serve as an integral leader at the Downtown YMCA. Areas of focus for this position will be staff development, ensuring adherence to child care licensing standards, building community relationships, and providing excellent member service in early child care.|
|Qualifications:||• A college degree in a related field is required, and candidates must meet the Virginia Department of Social Services guidelines for Child Care Directors|
• Candidates should possess a minimum of 3 years experience in licensed early child care
• Essential traits include the ability to build strong relationships with staff, children and families; excellent communication and organizational skills; and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Candidates should be outgoing, highly motivated, and team-oriented
