Description:The YMCA of Greater Richmond is seeking an energetic, motivated, mission-driven leader to serve as Director of YMCA Camp Thunderbird. Camp Thunderbird is a full-service day camp set on 100 acres in Chesterfield County, and serving campers and families throughout the greater Richmond area.

Duties:The Director will provide enthusiastic, strategic leadership to all camp operations; coach and develop staff; and provide association-wide leadership to Y-Guides programs. Specific duties include planning camp and Y-Guides programs at Camp Thunderbird; hiring, training and supervising staff; serving as association leader for Y-Guides program, working closely with Property Manager to maintain camp facilities and grounds; and building relationships with campers, families, volunteers, and community members. The Director will live year-round in a house on camp grounds.

The Director will supervise the full-time Administrative Services Director, and the two will work collaboratively to order food and supplies, coordinate camp rentals, ensure accurate and timely collection of revenue, and serve as resources to staff and others using camp facilities. As part of the Manchester Family YMCA team, the Director may be called upon to participate in branch special events, serve as branch manager on duty, and assist with philanthropic and board development activities as needed.
Qualifications:A four-year degree in a related field is preferred, and candidates must meet minimum Virginia DSS requirements for Child Care Directors. This position requires at least five years experience in a related field with three to five years in a supervisory role. Strong interpersonal, communication, administrative, budgeting and organizational skills are necessary.
